Mocs Football Squeeze Win Against Samford, 23-21

The Mocs squeezed out a win on the road against a top ten ranked team this past weekend.

Last week, UTC’s score may be the biggest upset of the college football season when they took on #8 Samford, winning with a score of 23-21.

The Mocs defense clamped down on Samford’s ground attack, limiting the Bulldogs to only 34 yards rushing in. The defense also shined when they forced turnovers, as they harassed Samford into three interceptions and four fumbles.

On offense, the Mocs had a slightly tougher time, giving the ball away four times, and committing twelve penalties. However, they did do enough to give themselves a 20-7 lead going into the 4th quarter, but then lost that lead within six minutes with a score of 21-20.

The Mocs regained that lead in the last two and a half minutes of the game with a game-winning field goal by Victor Ulmo, who was named the SOCON Player of the Week.

UTC looks to win against Wofford this Saturday.
