Update: UT Fraternity Member Dies During Boxing Match

from the mother of Tanner Wray. The UT Phi Chi member collapsed between rounds Friday during a charity boxing match. He died that night at a Knoxville hospital.

Knoxville Police Investigate Boxing Tournament Death

On Friday, February 23, 2018, at approximately 9:26 p.m., between the second and third rounds of a boxing match, a male participating in the match collapsed as he was about to sit down on his stool inside the ring. The male was a participant in the Ace Miller Boxing Tournament, which is an annual tournament where University of Tennessee fraternities box against each other.

Medical assistance was provided to the male by on-scene medical personnel. The male was transported to UT Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was transported to the forensics center where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. The investigation is continuing.

Joseph Tanner Wray
DOB: 5-19-97
Lawrenceburg, TN address
