Yakuza Boss Arrested After Tattoo Goes Viral

After a tattoo went viral on Facebook, Thailand police arrested a Japanese Yakuza boss after being on the run for 15 years.

Shigeharu Shirai is accused of murdering a gang rival in 2003.

When pictures of Shirai went viral, they caught the attention of the Japanese police who requested his arrest.

According to Thailand police, he admitted he was a member of the Yakuza gang. Police arrested him in Lopburi, north of Bangkok.

The Yakuza gangs have been a part of Japanese society for centuries. The mafia-like group is estimated to have around 60 thousand members.
