Mocs Basketball – 2018 SOCON Championship Recap

Brooke Burns

UTC’s basketball seasons both came to an end during the SOCON Tournament.

The No. 3 seed women’s team had a short stay in Asheville, as they fell to the No.6 seed UNCG in the first round. Despite being beset by absences to key players, the short-handed Mocs battled throughout the game, eventually losing in double-overtime 70-66. Freshman guard Brooke Burns came out of nowhere to score 33 points while playing all 50 minutes.

The men’s team had a slightly more successful time in North Carolina. The No.10 seed Mocs upset the No.7 seed Samford Bulldogs behind a dominant effort by Makinde London, who scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. However, the Mocs advanced no further after that, falling to ETSU in the next round.
