UTC Football Takes On the Rival ETSU

By Jake Sullivan

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (mocsnews.com) – University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will host one of their biggest rivals this weekend at home for a football showdown. Tenth-ranked ETSU rolls into the Scenic City Saturday for the renewal of the Rail Rivalry.

During the last matchup that the two teams had, Chattanooga overcame ETSU in a battle, ending the game with a 16-13 lead. Tis year ETSU is ranked number ten, putting them in the favor over Chattanooga.

“Quay Holmes leads the SoCon with 124.8 yards per game for the Bucs. He’s supported by Jacob Saylors’ 66.8. They face the league’s No. 1 rush defense from Chattanooga. ETSU is no easy team to beat but with the defense like Chattanooga has, there is a good chance that they can be stopped on home turf.

UTC quarterback Cole Copeland states, “Taking more control of the offense and getting that confidence in our guys that we need will definitely help us in the next coming game.”

The Mocs have had a great past two weeks on the field with just a little over sixteen plays that gained over 20 yards per play. Half of those being in the air from Copeland and the other half being on the ground.

Educators will get free tickets to this week’s game with a valid ID for the Teacher Appreciation and Academic Day at the so called “rail yard”. Teachers can pick up their tickets there with their ID, and also get discounted tickets for immediate family coming to watch the game as well.

The game is scheduled to start at 1:30 PM on Saturday afternoon. UTC is looking to get on track with their record in the Southern Conference, but ETSU looks to hold onto their undefeated year and come out of this game with a 7-0 record.
