UTC Library Closed for Spring Semester

From Dean Theresa Liedtke

Dear Campus Colleagues,

In consultation with the Executive Leadership Team and building colleagues, I write to inform you that the UTC Library Building will be closed to the public, including the campus community, effective today, Tuesday, 3/17/2020, through the end of Spring term.  This change will be evaluated at the end of Spring semester. The building will be open to UTC staff and faculty who work in the Library building, and are not working remotely.

Please know the Library will continue to support UTC faculty, students, and staff through the following means:

Online Library services and collections

  • Online Library instruction, consultation, and research services are available here, as are the majority of the Library’s online book and journal collections.

Circulation of Library materials and equipment

  • We will continue to circulate reserves, technology, and other needed resources with a new expedited and extended physical loan process, while limiting building access, in order to serve essential student and faculty needs.

Building resources

  • While every effort is being made to move services and collections online, in the event that a service or resource cannot be duplicated online, we are happy to make an appointment and have you visit the building, ensuring that any area, workstations or equipment is cleaned before and after use.

Please direct any UTC Library questions to library@utc.edu or call us 423-425-4501.

Please direct any Walker Center for Teaching and Learning questions to wctl@utc.edu or call at 423-425-4188.

Please direct any Center for Academic Support and Advisement questions to advise@utc.edu or call at 423-425-4573.

Know we are here for you, and please tell us what we can do to help you finish this unusual and challenging semester.

Best,

T.
