It is no surprise that Chattanooga, Tennessee is a beautiful place to live. Outside magazine named Chattanooga the “Best Town Ever” twice and they named Chattanooga one of the 24 Best Mountain Towns in the United States in 2022. Known to have some of the best activities to do in a city, Chattanooga offers many options from the outdoors to the indoors. People from all over the world come to the famous city of Chattanooga, nicknamed “Scenic City”, to experience something they never have. While there are many activities to do, it can be hard to decide what the best option is. Here is everything you need to know about what incredible ventures Chattanooga has to offer.

First and foremost, Chattanooga offers many experiences that are outdoors. Activities such as hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, swimming, and water rafting are just some of what Scenic City offers. Meredith Balthrop, a student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC), said that she never gets bored in Chattanooga, even after living here for 22 years. Balthrop said, “My favorite activity to do in Chattanooga is go to Sunset Rock and watch the sunset.” Sunset Rock is a beautiful historic landmark on Lookout Mountain. Sunset Rock is part of the Chicamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, this area has over 30 miles of hiking trails. Edwards Point, the Walnut Street Bridge, and Stingers Ridge are also other beautiful areas to visit.

Catherine Figueroa, a resident in Chattanooga and a student at UTC said, “My all time favorite thing to do is go white water rafting on the Ocoee.” The Ocoee River is a very popular attraction for those living in Chattanooga. It is a fun and exhilarating experience.
Although Chattanooga does offer amazing outdoor activities for people to experience, there are days when it may be too hot, too cold, or raining and spending time outside just is not what you want to do. Don’t worry! Scenic City has you covered. In the beautiful downtown Chattanooga, there are many indoor activities to do. The Creative Discovery Museum, The Racoon Mountain Caverns, Ruby Falls and the Hunter Arm Museum are just some of the fun activities offered. Aly Gaston, who just moved to Chattanooga, says that she loves being able to have a lot of options when it comes to Chattanooga experiences. She said, “I really love going to the Tennessee Aquarium. It is so beautiful and it is perfect for a day that you can’t spend outside.” The Tennessee Aquarium is a main attraction in Chattanooga. Penguins, turtles, sharks and otters are just some of the amazing animals at the Tennessee Aquarium.
Chattanooga, the Scenic City, is home to some of the most beautiful attractions in the United States. There is never a dull moment and there is always something to do. People come to this city to experience and appreciate true beauty and fun. Chattanooga has the perfect blend of nature, nightlife, and art.
