UTC Welcomes Lee Williams Weldon as Vice Chancellor for Advancement

Welcome Dr. Lee Williams Weldon to UTC
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is proud to welcome Dr. Lee Williams Weldon as UTC’s next Vice Chancellor for Advancement and Executive Director of the UC Foundation, effective July 16, 2026.

Dr. Weldon brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in higher education advancement, campaign strategy and foundation governance. Most recently, she served as Senior Associate Vice President of Development for Miami University and Chief Development Officer for the Miami University Foundation, where she helped lead fundraising efforts totaling between $80 million and $100 million annually and played a leadership role in the university’s $1 billion comprehensive campaign.

Her career also includes advancement leadership roles at the University of Alabama and the University of South Alabama, with experience spanning annual giving, planned giving, major gifts, foundation relations and strategic campaign leadership.

As Vice Chancellor for Advancement, Dr. Weldon will lead UTC’s Division of Advancement and oversee the UC Foundation, guiding fundraising strategy, alumni engagement and philanthropic partnerships that support student success, academic excellence and the university’s continued momentum.

Chancellor Lori Mann Bruce shared that Dr. Weldon’s collaborative leadership style and deep experience in campaign strategy and philanthropy align exceptionally well with UTC’s bold vision for the future.

Dr. Weldon joins UTC at an exciting time for the university and Advancement team, following three consecutive record-breaking fundraising years and growing momentum in alumni engagement and philanthropic support.
