ood morning,
As of about 10:45 pm on Thursday, May 7, Canvas is back up and fully operational. The outage we experienced was a global issue that affected campuses worldwide. Instructure (Canvas’s parent company) has been communicating with us thoroughly and often about the issue. They say that the issue has been contained and resolved.
As our deadline for spring grades to be reported approaches, we encourage faculty to exercise an abundance of caution. You can export gradebooks from Canvas to be able to access the information outside of the platform. Please reach out to the Walker Center if you would like assistance or have any questions.

Original Story
From UTC officials:
As of around 4:30 PM EST on Thursday, May 7, Canvas is unavailable for access. In response to a recent incident, Instructure (the parent company of Canvas) has shut down all platforms in an attempt to mitigate further impact. The outage is worldwide, not limited to UTC, and out of our control.
We are monitoring the situation closely. As soon as we have more information, an update will be provided.
Thank you,
Walker Center for Teaching and Learning
