The Miami Heat are set to play the Denver Nuggets in the National Basketball Association Finals! It has been a long path for the Heat as they entered the playoffs at the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference. League MVP Jimmy Butler has been on a warpath in the postseason, averaging 28.5 points per game, 7 rebounds a game, and 5.7 assists per game so far in the playoffs!
The Heat had a particularly difficult time getting to the Finals and that can be attributed to Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics! The Celtics took the Heat to Game 7 after being down 3-0 in the series and the Heat were just able to hold off the comeback of the century! But now, they have to face a whole new threat in Jokic and the Nuggets.
Nikola Jokic has been leading the Denver Nuggets on a tear that has been unheard of in the NBA! Jokic (or as fans know him, Joker) has been averaging 29.9 ppg, 13.3 RPG, and 10.3 APG in 15 games in the postseason! That is averaging a triple-double when the stakes are at their highest and every basket counts. The Nuggets have been dominating all season, entering the postseason claiming the 1st seed in the Western Conference and slaughtering the Timberwolves, Suns, and Lakers, in turn, leading up to the League Finals!
It is truly a battle of the Titans as Joker seeks to prove that he is the league’s true MVP and that Jimmy B is just having a good year. On the opposite side of the battlefield, you have Butler and the Heat, who are trying to prove that they have earned their shot at the championship and are ready to prove that overthrowing Jokic as the League MVP was not a fluke, but is now the new status quo for Butler and the Heat going into Game 1 on June 1st!
