Pride line tag in store
The Pride line launched early this May and will be altered before Pride month begins on June 1. Stores are reporting instances with disgruntled customers in response to this Pride line.
“Since introducing this year’s collection, we’ve experienced threats impacting our team members’ sense of safety and wellbeing while at work,” Target said Tuesday in a written statement. “Given these volatile circumstances, we are making adjustments to our plans.”

Members of the general public and LGBTQ community are upset with Target’s decision to pull the line saying that they are doing exactly what the hateful people want them to do. Target has made several comments and reiterates that they are only altering the Pride line to keep their stores and employees safe.
Kelley Robinson, president of The Human Rights Campaign, the largest LGBTQ+ civil rights group in the U.S. said, “Target should put the products back on the shelves and ensure their Pride displays are visible on the floors, not pushed into the proverbial closet. That’s what the bullies want. Target must be better.”
This story has gained traction across the country and is being talked about across all media platforms. You can find a CBS interview about this issue here.
Although Target is trying to stay ahead of the situation and make everyone happy, there is no way for them to act without making people mad. Target will continue to sell and display the line in their stores, but it will not be advertised or displayed in the front of the stores.
