NEWARK, N.J. (mocsnews)- Taylor Swift dominated at this year’s MTV Music Awards which was held on Tuesday, September, 12. Since 1984, the MTV VMA’s have been held to honor artists, their music, and the best music videos of the year.
Each year, artists work to push the boundaries of genres, the music industry, and create the best music they possibly can. One artist who has continuously done just that, is Taylor Swift.
Taylor Swift has been making a name for herself since 2005 and made her VMA debut in 2008. Since then, she has had 58 nominations and as of September 12, she has 23 wins. This includes the nine wins she earned this past Tuesday.
Swift won the VMA for, Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Show of the Summer, and Album of the Year.
Nine of these awards were won by one song titled “Anti-Hero”.
Swift is officially the second most awarded artist in VMA history, following Beyonce. According to MTV, she also tied the record for the most VMA’s won in one night with nine wins out of 11 nominations.
This past year has been nothing short of remarkable for Swift. At last year’s VMA’s, Swift announced her 10th studio album titled Midnights which took the industry, streaming platforms, and fans all by storm.
Followed by the announcement of her Eras Tour U.S leg which ran from March to August and made stops at 21 cities. It will continue this upcoming November internationally.
